Did You Know?The Charity League Began as strictly a volunteer service organization in 1933 called "THe Junior Committee of the Day The Charity League was officially incorporated in 1935 and has supported social agencies for the benefits of women and children in the area for over 70 years. Charity League's "Garden Party Fashion Shows" began at the home of Mrs. C.W. White, who resided at the marlborough Blenheim Hotel in Atlantic City, in 1935. The insigna for Charity League is a water lily which represents a floating heart, and the Latin words "CUM PRIVILEGIO The Charity League Christmas Mart has been in existence since 1947 and features homemade gourmet items from recipes perfected several generations ago; hand sequined Christmas Stockings, tree skirts, ornaments, and the Christmas Pin. Charity League's first Christmas Pin was designed in 1948, a green wool wreath with red berries. A new design is presented each year at the Mart. Each pin is hand-crafted and they always sell out on the first day of the Mart. In 2005, Charity League reported close to $200,000 raised for health and welfare services in the community with 13,423 volunteer hours logged by members during the year.
